Saturday Prayers: November 16th – 17th, 2019
23rd Sunday after Pentecost
Look up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. Luke. 21. 28
Almighty God, you sent your Son Jesus Christ to be the Light of the World. Free us from all that darkens and ensnares us, and bring us to eternal light and joy; through the power of him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Lighten our darkness, we beseech thee, O Lord; and by thy great mercy defend us from the perils and dangers of the world; for the love of thy Son, Our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Let there be light, let there be understanding, let all the nations gather, let them be face to face. Open our lips, open our minds to ponder, perish the way of terror, open the door to concord, hallow the world God made. (Frances Wheeler Davis.)
Guide, we beseech thee, Almighty God, by the light of your Holy Spirit, the nations of the earth, that we may all dwell in peace and unity, and fulfil the mind of Him who loves us and gave himself for us, thy Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Almighty God, whose loving hand hath given us all that we possess: Grant us grace that we may honour thee in our way of life and stewardship, remembering the account which we must one day give. May we be faithful stewards, in this life and be found worthy of life eternal, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Loving God, be present with us, giving daily strength for our daily living; protect and guide us day by day. Guide those who have positions of leadership in the world. And may we all live together in peace and unity, to the Glory of your Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
Go forth into the world in peace, be of good cheer, hold fast that which is good, love and serve the Lord – and may the grace of God be with you. Amen.
So be it Lord! Thy throne shall never, like earth’s proud empires, pass away; thy kingdom stands and grows forever, till all thy creatures own thy sway. Amen.
