Saturday Prayers: May 27th – 28th 2017

 In Prayers

Ascension Sunday
I will not leave you desolate, say’s the Lord; I will come to you. John 14. 18 Almighty God, you have exalted your only Son, Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven. Mercifully give us faith to know that, as He promised, He abides with us to the end of time; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The heaven that hides Christ from our sight, knows neither near nor far, an altar candle sheds it light as surely as a star.

Sunday May 27th is also Jerusalem and the Holy Land Sunday
I was glad when they said unto me “Let us go to the house of the Lord” Now our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built as a city that is at unity with itself. To which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, the assembly of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord. For there are the thrones of judgement, the thrones of the House of David Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may they prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls and quietness within your towers. For my brethren and companions sake, I pray for your prosperity. Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek to do you Good. Psalm 122

Lord Jesus, we give thanks for the ancient City of Jerusalem, we pray for this sacred place in our time, that it may become once again a city of the nations, a city of peace and goodwill, amongst it’s inhabitants, The City of our God. We pray for all who live there and in its surrounding area. May they become as of old, a Holy Nation united in peace. Lord, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, may they prosper that love thee. Amen. So be it. Amen.

Food for today – A Prayer from George Appleton’s JERUSALEM PRAYERS for the world of today
O Lord my God, I bring to you the duties already arranged for to-day……. guide and strengthen me for each task. There are other things, O Lord, which will come to me today, unplanned by me; VISITORS, LETTERS, TELEPHONE CALLS, UNFORESEEN HAPPENINGS. Let me be so aware of your abiding presence with me, that I may respond to each in dependence on you, asking your will, infused with your love and strengthened by your grace, O Blessed Lord. Amen.
(George Appleton is a former Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem)

Added to the Prayers following the Terrorist attack in Manchester, England
Heavenly Father, Your World is grieving the loss of its children and families mourn the death of loved ones. Draw them close to you, comfort their broken hearts and minds. Let your Holy Spirit fill our hearts with sympathy, love and peace. Lets us all stand together in your name to bring peace and harmony back into the world. Lead us forward to renew the face of the earth and make your creation to reflect your love and Peace. We pray through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, The Prince of Peace and the author of our Salvation.
Amen, Amen and Amen.

Blessings,
