Saturday Prayers: November 4th – 5th 2017

 In Prayers

27th Sunday After Pentecost

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3. 16.

Almighty God whose chosen servant Abraham obeyed your call, rejoicing in your promise that in him the family of the earth is blessed, give us faith like his, that in us your promises may be fulfilled; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

The God of Abraham praise who reigns enthroned above; Ancient of everlasting Days; the God of love; Jehovah, great I Am! By earth and heaven confessed; I bow and bless the sacred name for ever blest. The great I Am has sworn; I on this oath depend. I shall, on eagle wings up-borne, to heaven ascend. (From the Yigdal of Daniel ben Judah. 14th Century)

All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Remembrance Day: November 1st, 2nd and 11th

The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God and there no torment shall touch them. Wisdom 3.1

O God, the King of Heaven and Earth, who has prepared a place in heaven, for all who have served you and are now at rest; We remember in this Holy Season all who have gone before us into Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus. We give thanks for their service and sacrifice, and pray that we too may be found worthy to share in your Heavenly Kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let saints on earth in concert sing with those whose work is done; For all the servants of our King in earth and heaven are one.

Heavenly Father we pray for our Country and its people, for those who serve the nation in positions of authority; for those who serve to keep the peace; for those who serve in leadership positions, and for all people in their daily life and work; the families of the nation, little children and all who are in need of care and protection – and Lord Jesus, we pray for ourselves, that we may be worthy of your blessings and serve you faithfully in this life that we may be found worthy of life eternal. And so we praise you Gracious God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the God of Heaven and Earth, the Creator and Redeemer of all things. Amen.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
