Saturday Prayers: May 12th – 13th, 2018

 In Prayers

Ascension Sunday (also known as Jerusalem and The Holy Land Sunday)

I will not leave you desolate, says the Lord. I will come to you John 14. 8.

Almighty God you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven. Mercifully give us faith to know that, as he promised, he abides with us on earth to the end of time, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Source of all joy, receive our prayers of praise and thanksgiving and bring us to the vision of his glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Hail, thou once despised Jesus! Hail thou Galilean King! Thou didst suffer to release us; thou didst free salvation bring. Hail thou universal Saviour! Thou hast borne our sin and shame; by thy merits we find favour; life is given through thy name. Worship, honour, power and blessing thou art worthy to receive, loudest praises, without ceasing, meet it is for us to give. (from 17th Century poem by John Bakewell )

O Eternal Lord God, Source of all truth, Lover of all; we thank you for placing at the centre of the world The Holy City of Jerusalem make it to be a City of Peace. Let it be a City of friendship; Let it be a city of joy; Let it be a City where different faith can come together; Let it be a joy to the whole world: The centre of faith, love and peace; where Jesus may reign, now and for ever. Amen.

Monday, May 14th – St. Mathias the Apostle

I chose you and appointed you, says the Lord; that you should go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. John 15. 16.

Almighty God, who in place of Judas chose Matthias to be numbered in the twelve, preserve your Church from false apostles, and by the ministry of faithful pastors and teachers keep us all steadfast in you truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Giver of love and grace may we live in your love, express your peace and come closer to you in faith, prayer and example following Jesus our Saviour and King. Alleluia, Amen.

Blessings,
