 In Prayers

10th Sunday After Pentecost

A great prophet has risen among us! God has visited his people. Luke 7. 16.

O God the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy, increase and multiply upon us your mercy, that with you as our ruler and guide, we may pass through things temporal, that we lose not the things eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but thou art mighty; hold me with thy powerful hand. Let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all thy journey through. Strong deliverer, strong deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan bid my anxious fears subside, land me safe on Canaan’s side. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more; feed me till I want no more. (Selected lines from the hymn by William Williams)

In these troubled and uncertain times our greatest need is confidence in God.

Lord Jesus, walk with us, be our guide, help us to do your will as we take our place in this troubled world. Give courage and strength to our leaders and those in authority, and lead us along your pathway of peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We pray for those Countries, Grand Priories and people in every part of the world experiencing difficult times; caused by forest fires, floods, extreme heat, catastrophe, the after- math of war, poor harvests, the evil hand and dangers of all kinds; Lord Jesus, walk with them, guide their restoration and give your saving grace to the afflicted and the power to heal and restore; this we pray in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Lord God, the strength of our life and the author of our salvation; we thank you for your guidance, for the blessings of health, strength, peace and safety, for family and friends and for the life we share in church and community; for our ability to work and to provide for our needs and the needs of others; for minds to think and hearts to love; for the strength and beauty of everything you have created for us to share. May we find our true happiness and confidence in serving and praising you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.

Blessings,
