Saturday Prayers: March 9th – 10th, 2019

 In Prayers

First Sunday in Lent

We shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Matthew 4.4.

Almighty God, whose Son fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are but did not sin, give us grace to discipline ourselves in submission to your spirit, that as you know our weakness, so we may know your power to save, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

So what does the Lord require for praise and for offering; What sacrifice, desire, or tribute bid you bring:
Do justly; love mercy; walk humbly with your God. So shall our life God’s law so hard and high fulfill. Let Christ endue our will with grace to fortify. Then justly, in mercy, we will walk humbly with our God. (Albert Fredrick Bayly)

With confidence and trust we pray for: Christ’s mission in the world that in faithful witness we may live and spread the Gospel; We pray for the peace of Christ to dwell in the hearts and minds of all people; the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer, the weak and the dying, those who mourn, those who live in danger, and all who are in need of the love of God to dwell with them. And we pray that we may be faithfull witnesses to the love and praise of God. Let this be both our Lenten and life mission. Amen, Amen and Amen.

O God of unchangeable power and eternal light, look favourably on the world, upon every race and nation, that all people may live in peace and know your plan of salvation. Let the whole world see and know that things which are cast down can be raised up, that things which have grown old can be made new, and all people may live to the Glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive, and enables us to fullfil His mission in the world. Amen.

The promise of The Sermon on the Mount. Matthew 5. v 6.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for what is right, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessings,
