Saturday Prayers: September 21st – 22nd, 2019

 In Prayers

Saturday September 21st – St. Matthew Apostle and Evangelist

You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth. Acts 1.8.

Almighty God, who through your Son called Matthew to be your Apostle and Evangelist free us from all greed and selfish love, that we may follow in the steps of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 – 15th Sunday after Pentecost

God has called us through the gospel so that we may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2. 14

Almighty God, you have created the heavens and the earth, and ourselves in your image. Teach us to discern your hand in all your works and serve you with reverence and thanksgiving; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Thy hand , O God, has guided thy flock from age to age; The wondrous tale is written, full clear, on every page; Our fathers owned thy goodness and we their deeds record, and both of this bear witness; one Church, one Faith, one Lord. And we, shall we be faithless, shall hearts fail, hands hang down? Shall we evade the conflict and cast away our crown? Not so, in God’s deep counsels some better thing is stored: We will maintain, unflinching – one Church, one faith, one Lord. (Dean E.H. Plumtre)

And we continue our prayer for those who encountered the storms and conflicts of the weather, the destruction of their homes , family life, and well being. Lord Jesus, walk with them, be their strength and their salvation, support them in this and everyday with your abiding presence, and help us to see and do our part in their rehabilitation; In Jesus name we pray. Amen

O Lord support us all the day long on this troublous life, until the shades lengthen and the evening comes, the busy world is hushed , the fever of life is over and our work on earth is done, then Lord, in your mercy grant us a quiet rest and peace at the last, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen, Amen and Amen.

Blessings,
