Saturday Prayers: January 25th – 26th, 2020
Saturday January 25th The Conversion of St Paul
This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses Acts. 2. 32
Almighty God, by the preaching of your servant Paul you caused the light of the Gospel to shine throughout the world. May we who celebrate his wonderful conversion follow him in bearing witness to your truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Praise for the light from heaven and for the voice of awe; praise for the glorious vision the persecutor saw. O Lord, for Paul’s conversion we bless your name to-day. Come shine within our darkness and guide us in the way.
Third Sunday after the Epiphany
The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the Gospel Mark 1. 15
Almighty God, by grace alone you call us and accept us in your service. Strengthen by your Spirit, and make us worthy of your call; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Jesus calls us! O’er the tumult of our life’s wild restless sea, day by day his sweet voice soundeth, saying, “Christian follow me”
In these difficult dark, cold, snowy, days of winter we pray that we may be kept safe, and that those who protect and care for us may be given the strength and courage to guard us from dangers of travel and the difficulties of life in stormy days. “Stay with us, Lord Jesus Christ, be our light and strength in the darkness of the storm” . Amen.
Selected Words from Psalm 27
The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom then shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom then shall I be afraid.
Faithful God, the shelter of all who hope in you, set us free from the darkness, distress, and fear, protect us in times of danger, and difficulty, bless and watch over those who serve to care and protect us and bring us to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, through Jesus Christ our Lord, our Light and our Salvation. Amen.
Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, let me stand, through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light, Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me home.Amen. (Selected words from the Hymn by Thomas Dorsey)
