 In Prayers

Third Week of Lent

Lord, you are indeed the Saviour of the world. Give us living water that we may not thirst.

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ gives the water of eternal life, may we always thirst for you, the spring of life and the source of all goodness; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Spring of life, source of all goodness, bring us to the living water, Jesus Christ. Refresh and sustain us as we go forward on our Lenten Journey, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Crashing waters at creation, ordered by the Spirit’s breath, first to witness day’s beginning from the brightness of night’s death. Cleansing water once at Jordan closed around the one fore-told, opened to reveal the glory, ever new and ever old. Living water, never ending, quench our thirst and flood our soul. Well-spring, source of life eternal, drench our dryness, make us whole. (Sylvia G. Dustan)

God of mercy and forgiveness, may we live together in unity and peace, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Lord of heaven and earth, we pray for your Holy Healing Hands to be laid upon the weak, the sick, and the dying, upon a world overwhelmed by ‘Coronavirus’. Give comfort to all who suffer, and strength to caregivers and all who work with your healing grace. Lord Jesus, you know the secrets of our hearts, shut not your merciful ears to our prayers.

O Lord, we lay before you a world stricken by sickness, death and despair. Lay your Holy Healing Hands upon us all. Heal the sick, comfort the dying, and receive into your loving presence those who have died. Give us all the strength and courage to go forward day by day, caring for those in need.

May each new day bring with it strength for our journey, and courage to live in your name, Jesus Christ, be our strength and our salvation. Amen

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest; Lay down, thou weary one, lay down thy head upon my breast”. I came to Jesus as I was weary, worn and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad. I came to Jesus and I drank of that life giving stream, my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.

Blessings to all – go forth and live in the strength and courage of the God who created you for Himself and His Peace will be with you. Amen, Amen, and Amen.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
