Saturday Prayers: April 25th – 26th, 2020

 In Prayers

Saturday, April 25th – St. Mark the Evangelist

We preach Christ crucified, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 23-24th

Almighty God, by the hand of Mark the evangelist you gave to your Church the Gospel of Jesus Christ the Son of God. We thank you for his witness, and pray that we may be grounded firmly in its truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.

Sunday, April 26th – Third Sunday of Easter

Lord Jesus, open to us the scriptures, make our hearts burn within us while you speak Luke 24 – 32

O God, your Son made himself known to his Disciples in the breaking of bread. Open the eyes of our faith, that we may see him in His redeeming work, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Bread of heaven, on thee we feed, for thy flesh is food indeed; ever may our souls be fed with thy true and living bread, day by day with strength supplied through the life of him who died who died. (Josiah Conder)

As we joyously celebrate the Easter Festival we find our hearts and minds subdued by the call to remember in our prayers the deaths of thousands of people throughout the world caused by the coronavirus – and the devastation and deaths of nineteen people in the tiny rural villages of Nova Scotia, caused by a lone gunman masquerading as a Police Officer.

Heavenly Father into your hands and care we commend those who have died, when sorrow darkens our lives help us to look up to thee for strength and courage to live on, deal graciously with those who mourn, that casting all their care on thee, they may know the consolation of thy great love. Amen.

Hold thou thy Cross before my closing eyes; Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies; Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee; In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me. Amen.

The Lord Bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face to shine upon you and give you peace, now and for evermore. AMEN.

Blessings,
