Canada Day Weekend, 2019
Saturday, June 29th – St. Peter and St. Paul
Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you. John 21. 17
Almighty God, your blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you in their death as in their life. Grant that we, inspired by their teaching and example, and made one by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, now and forever. Amen.
O Christ, the great foundation on which your people stand to preach your true salvation in every age and land: pour out your Holy Spirit to make us strong and pure, to keep the faith unbroken as long as worlds endure. (Timothy Tingfang Lew)
Sunday, June 30th Third Sunday of Pentecost
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, that you may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called you out of darkness in to his own marvellous light. 1 Peter 2.9.
Almighty God you have taught us through your Son that love fulfills the law. May we love you with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.
Monday July 1st Canada Day & Thursday July 4th American Independence Day
If any serve me, the father will honour them. John 12. 26
Almighty God, whose wisdom and love are over all, accept our prayers for these two great nations, may we always live together in unity and peace. Give to our leaders integrity, wisdom and peace, that harmony, justice, and integrity may always prevail to keep your people secure, to live in faith, and may your Blessing be upon us all, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
For the healing of the nations, God, we pray with one accord; for a just and equal sharing of the things the earth affords, To a life of love in action help us rise and pledge our word.
You, Creator God, have written your great name on humankind; for our growing in your likeness, bring the life of Christ to mind; that by our response and service earth it’s destiny may find. (Fred Kaan)
