 In Prayers

Second Sunday of Easter

Have you believed, Thomas, because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe. John 20.29

Almighty and eternal God, the strength of those who believe and the hope of those who doubt, may we, who have not seen, have faith and receive the fullness of Christ’s blessing, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Yours be the glory, risen, conquering Son: endless is the victory over death you won. Angels robed in splendour rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave clothes where your body lay. No more we doubt you, glorious Prince of life; what is life without you? Aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors through your deathless love; bring us safe through Jordan to your home above. Yours be the glory risen conquering Son; endless is the victory over death you won. (Edmond Louis Budry)

In the midst of our celebration of the joy of the Resurrection of Jesus we heard of the atrocities of evil people attacking those celebrating your Resurrection in Sri Lanka. “Lord forgive them for they know not what they do.” We pray for those who were attacked, the weak, the injured, those who died, their relatives and friends. In the power of the Resurrection may peace be restored, healing given, and God’s peace restored. “ I am Resurrection, and I am Life” says the Lord.

“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”

“I am Resurrection and I am Life.”

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, who has opened the gate of everlasting life, live in us, that we may live with you. Alleluia – Amen.

“Surely thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever” Alleluia – Amen.

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, to the end that all who believe in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3.16 Alleluia – Amen.

The Resurrection is the pattern for our life. Alleluia – Amen.

Lord, live in us, that we may live with you. Alleluia – Amen.

Blessings,
