Saturday Prayers: April 28th – 29th, 2018
Fifth Sunday of Easter
I am the vine, you are the branches, says the Lord. Those who abide in me, and I in them, bear much fruit. John 15.5
Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Give us grace to love one another and walk in the way of his commandments, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
1. You are the salt of the earth, O people: salt for the kingdom of God! Share the flavour of life, O people: Life in the Kingdom of God! Bring forth the kingdom of mercy. Bring forth the kingdom of peace; bring forth the kingdom of justice, bring forth the City of God!
2. You are a light on the hill, O people: light for the city of God! Shine so holy and bright O people: shine for the Kingdom of God. (Marty Haugen)
Tuesday, May 1st. St. Philip and St. James
Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, says the Lord; that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14. 15
Almighty God, you gave to your apostles Philip and James grace and strength to bear witness to the truth. Grant that we mindful of their victory of faith may glorify in life and death the name of Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
In joy and hope we pray to the source of all life, saying, Hear us, Lord of Glory!
That our risen Saviour may fill us with the joy of His holy and life giving resurrection; That isolated and persecuted churches and people may find fresh strength in the Gospel of Christ; That by His power wars and famine may cease through all the earth;
That He may reveal the light of His presence to the sick, the weak and the dying, that they may be comforted and strengthened;
That He may send the fire of the Holy Spirit upon His people that we may bear faithful witnesses to His resurrection.
Hear us, Lord of Glory, Alleluia. Amen.
On behalf of OSMTH – SMOTJ , The Grand Priory of Canada and The Priory of St. James Toronto, Ont., we express our sympathy to the Families and Friends of those killed and injured in the recent attack on Yonge Street, Toronto, Ont., where ten people died and 14 were injured.
When one person dies a little bit of all of us dies and we all share in that attack on our humanity.
Rest Eternal grant unto them O Lord and let light perpetual shine upon them. May they rest in peace – and rise in Glory. And we pray for those injured, their families, and those who care for them. Lord, lay your Holy, Healing Hands upon them. Amen.
Blessings,
