Saturday Prayers: April 6th – 7th, 2019
5th Sunday of Lent
Anyone who serves me must follow me, says the Lord, and where I am, there shall my servant be also. John 12. 26
Most merciful God, by the death and resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ, you created humanity anew. May the power of his victorious cross transform those who turn in faith to him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Prepare the way, O Zion, your Christ is drawing near! Let every hill and valley a level way appear. Greet one who comes in glory, foretold in sacred story, Oh, blest is Christ that came in God’s most holy name. He brings God’s rule, O Zion; he comes from heaven above. His rule is peace and freedom, and justice, truth, and love. Oh, blest is Christ that came in God’s most holy name. (Frans Mikael)
Eternal God, your Son suffered death upon the cross to bring the world salvation. Accept the praise and thanksgiving we offer you this day, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
For peace, truth and justice, we pray to you Lord God in the midst of the world torn by political conflict, lack of faith, and in fear. Rise up strong Son of God, make us whole again, that we may live to the Glory of your Name. Amen.
Praise be to God who makes all things new. Amen.
Gracious God, hear the prayers of your faithful people; you know our needs before we ask and our ignorance in asking, in your compassion, forgive us our sin, grant our requests as may be best for all people, and may we live to the Glory of your Holy Name. Amen.
Creator of the universe, let the light of your glory shine in the darkness of the world; make us all attentive to your presence, filled with your love and ready to follow in the steps of the crucified, risen Lord who is our strength and our salvation. Amen.
Blessings,
