Saturday Prayers: August 11th – 12th, 2018

 In Prayers

12th Sunday After Pentecost

I am the living bread which came down from heaven, says the Lord; anyone who eats this bread will live for ever. John 6. 51.

Almighty God, you sent your Holy Spirit to be the life and light of your people. Open our hearts to the riches of your grace, that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit in love, joy, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing, and we, though many, throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord. Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man, no more, we are one body in the Lord. (John B Foley)

Wednesday, August 15th – St. Mary the Virgin

Hail, O favoured one, the Lord is with you! The Holy Spirit will come upon you. Luke 1. 28 – 35.

O God, you have taken to yourself the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of your incarnate Son. May we who have been redeemed by his blood, share with her in The Glory of your Eternal kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Mary we hail you, full of God’s favour, blessed are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ, called to be the child of the Most High, Saviour of all, The Holy One.

Heavenly Father, receive the praise we offer you this day, and grant that we may be enriched by the gifts of your Holy Spirit. This we pray in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty and Eternal God, we come to you sharing our thoughts, cares, hope and prayers, seeking your strength in our lives and acknowledging your love and care towards us; lead us forward day by day as we trust in your mercy and the gift of life and life eternal.

Lord Jesus, walk with us through the difficult times of our daily living, as the world around us seems to be in turmoil, facing the difficulties we bring upon ourselves.

As the world around us deals with wars, disasters, and despair, help us to see and trust in your transforming goodness. Strengthen our knowledge and trust that through prayer, service, and commitment to each other, the world may be changed towards reconciliation, peace, with respect for the holiness of the lives you have created.

We give thanks for all who serve to protect us and keep us safe; for those who care for us, and those who lead us in these difficult days of unrest. May we, inspired by good examples; and all who seek to act in accordance to your will be filled with your peace and love.

These and all the prayers of faithful people we lift up to your throne of grace; and may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
