Saturday Prayers: August 19th – 20th 2017

 In Prayers

Sunday, August 20th – 11th Sunday after Pentecost

Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Matthew 16. 16.

Almighty God, we are taught by your word that all our doings without love are worth nothing. Send you Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love, the true bond of peace and of all virtue; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Come down, O Love divine, seek thou this soul of mine, and visit it with thine own ardour glowing; O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear, and kindle it, thy holy flame bestowing. Let holy charity my outward vesture be and lowliness my inner clothing. True lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part, and o’er its own short comings weeps with loathing. (Bianco da Siena. 14th Century text)

Heavenly Father, Bless and comfort us as we deal with all the challenges of life, the ills of body and spirit. Give comfort to those who mourn. Grant us peace in our lives, love in our hearts and truth in our minds. Walk with us Lord for our journey is great; this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Heavenly Father, wars rage in the world; Fires, floods and disasters are on the home front, and our hearts and minds are filled with fear. Lord Jesus, walk with us, give us daily strength for our daily living. Help us to care and protect each other, thanking you for the good things you provide; this we pray, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thursday, August 24th, – St. Bartholomew

You are those who continued with me in my trials. You shall eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. Luke 22. 28

Almighty and everlasting God, who gave to your Apostle Bartholomew grace to believe and preach your word, may we truly love what he believed and faithfully continue what he taught; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God, you are our strength and our salvation; of whom then shall we be afraid. You command light to shine in our darkness, give us courage to go forward day by day in your name. Bless those who serve to defend us and keep us safe; Shine in our hearts and minds that we may be a support to those in need, as we give thanks for all your mercies; this we pray in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Possessing every Blessing we say, Alleluia, Amen.

Blessings,
