 In Prayers

Second Sunday of Advent – The Sunday of Peace

Prepare the way of the Lord, make his path straight. All flesh shall see the Salvation of God. Luke 3. 4-6

Almighty God, who sent you servant John the Baptist to prepare your people to welcome the Messiah, inspire us, the ministers and stewards of your truth, to turn our disobedient hearts to you, that when the Christ shall come again to be our judge, we may stand with confidence before his glory; who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen

On Jordan’s bank, the Baptist’s cry announces that the Lord is nigh; Awake, and hearken for he brings glad tidings of the King of Kings. Then cleansed be every heart from sin; make straight the way for God within. Prepare we in our hearts a home, where such a might guest may come.

Lord, make us to be instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen (The prayer of St. Francis)

Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed: Kindle, we pray thee, in the hearts of all people the true love of peace, and guide with thy pure and peaceable wisdom those who take counsel for the nations of the earth; that in peace and tranquility thy kingdom may go forward, till earth is filled with the knowledge of thy love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We give you thanks, Lord our God, for calling us to be people of your light, help us to shine that light into the darkness of the world and equip all people with the armour of light and life. In this Holy season as we prepare to celebrate the Christmas Festival of love and peace help us to express in our daily living the love the Christ child brought into the world. Amen

O come, O come , Emmanuel, Desire of nations, bind in one the hearts of humankind, O bid the bitter conflict cease, and be for us our Prince of peace.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

Lord Jesus, The Christ Child – The Crucified – The Risen Lord -The Ascended King Let this Sacred Season be one of Peace beginning in Jerusalem and spreading throughout the world. Live in us that we may live with you. Amen.

Blessings,
