Saturday Prayers: Feast of Epiphany, 2019
The Epiphany of the Lord
The Year is gone beyond recall, with all its hopes and fears, with all its bright and gladdening smiles with all its mourners tears. Thy thankful people praise thee Lord, for countless gifts received; and pray for grace to keep the faith which Saints of old believed. Defend us Lord and give us peace and plenteousness. ( translated from the Latin Le Mans Breviary 1748 )
Lord Jesus, Bless to us this New Year and graciously abide with us all the days of our Life. Amen.
Sunday, January 6th – The Feast of the Epiphany
We have seen his star in the east, and we have come to worship Him. Matthew 2.2.
Wise Men came seeking Jesus – will you be wise enough to follow them ?
Eternal God, who by a star led wise men to the worship of your Son, Guide by your light the nations of the earth, that the whole world may know your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
As with gladness men of old did the guiding star behold, as with joy they hailed its light, leading onward, beaming bright; so, most gracious Lord, may we evermore be led by thee. (William Chatterton Dix)
Pray that the peace and good will of the Christmas – New Year Season may journey with us – and lead us to the Kingdom of Heaven. He is more than near us, if we love him well; for He ever seeks within our hearts to dwell.
Continue the celebration of Peace and Goodwill and keep it precious throughout this New Year.
Jesus said – my peace I give unto you – Go forth expressing the peace of God.
Eternal Father may we who have received the gift of divine of love and peace into our hearts and minds, carry it forward into this New Year, share it with all people, as we continue to bless your Holy Name and express it in our lives, through Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world. Amen
God of power and peace, the strength of all who believe in you, enable us to express your peace in the world and to live to the Glory of your Name. Alleluia. Amen.
Blessings,
