Saturday Prayers: February 10th – 11th, 2018

 In Prayers

Last Sunday After Epiphany

A great prophet has risen up among us! God has visited his people! Luke 7.16

Almighty and Everliving God, whose Son Jesus Christ healed the sick and restored them to wholeness of life, look with compassion on the anguish of the world, and by your power make whole all peoples and nations; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

You who abide in the shelter of the Lord, who abide in his shadow for life, say to the Lord. “My refuge, the rock in whom I trust!” You need not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day; though thousands fall beside you, near you it shall not come. And he will raise you up on eagle’s wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand. ( From Psalm 91)

Ash Wednesday – February 14th. “Create in me a clean heart, O God”

Almighty and everlasting God, you despise nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent. Create and make in us new and contrite hearts that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our brokenness, may obtain of you, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

What does the Lord require for praise and offering? What sacrifice desire, or tribute bid you bring? Do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God. ( taken from Micah 6.8.)

With confidence and trust we pray to the Lord, saying Lord, have mercy; Lord, grant us peace.

We pray that in faithful witness we may teach and live out the Gospel to all peoples.

We pray for peace in the world and that a spirit of respect and reconciliation may grow among all nations and people.

We pray for the poor, the persecuted, the sick, the weak and all who suffer; for refugees, prisoners, and all who are in danger, that they may be relieved and protected.

We pray for all whom we may have injured or offended.

We pray for grace to amend our lives and to further the reign of God.

Lord, hear and have mercy. Amen.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
