Saturday Prayers: February 15th – 16th, 2020
Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany
A great prophet has arisen amongst us! God has visited his people! Luke 7. 16.
Almighty and ever-living God, whose Son Jesus Christ healed the sick and restored them to wholeness of life, look with compassion on the anguish of the world, and by your power make whole all peoples and nations; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
We pray for those people and countries who are sick and suffering through the coronavirus: Lord Jesus, lay your holy healing hands of cleansing power and grace upon the sickness of the world; cleanse and restore the stricken bodies of those infected, draw those who have died into your heavenly presence; comfort those who mourn; give strength and courage to those who minister to them of your healing grace. We pray for the whole of your creation to be restored to wholeness, peace and newness of life through Jesus Christ our Lord, our Saviour, Redeemer,Comforter and Giver of Peace. And to that we all say AMEN.
O thou whose power o’er moving worlds presides, whose voice created, and whose wisdom guides, on darkened souls with your pure brightness shine, and clear our clouded minds with light divine. (from Anicius Severinus Boethius 5th Century)
Eternal Lord God, you are the strength of the weak, the comfort of those who suffer, the healer of the sick; turn our sickness and suffering into health, our sorrow into joy, and fill our hearts and minds with your grace and peace. Lord Jesus lay your Holy, Healing Hands of Love and Peace upon us all. Amen.
Lord, you bless with words assuring: “I am with you to the end”. Faith and hope and love restoring, may we serve as you intend, and amid the cares that claim us, hold in mind eternity, Spirit’s gift empower us for the work of ministry. ( Jeffery Rowthorn)
The Peace of the Lord be with you always. Amen.
Blessings,
