Saturday Prayers: January 20th – 21st 2018
Third Sunday after Epiphany
The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel. Mark 1. 15.
Almighty God, by grace alone you call us and accept our service. Strengthen us by your spirit, and make us worthy of your call; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.
Spirit of the living God, move among us all, make us one in heart and mind, make us one in love; humble, caring, selfless, sharing, Spirit of the living God fill our hearts with love. Spirit of the living God, break me, mould me, melt me, fill me. Spirit of the living God, fall a fresh on me. (Rachel Baughen)
Thursday, January 25th The Conversion of St. Paul
This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Acts 2. 32.
Almighty God, by the preaching of your servant Paul you caused the light of the gospel to shine throughout the world. May we who celebrate his wonderful conversion follow him in bearing witness to your truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
O Lord, for Paul’s conversion, we bless your name to-day. Come shine within our darkness and guide us on our way.
As we come to the close of the week of Christian unity we continue to pray now and always for the unity of the Church, for faith in the hearts of all people and for the love of God to be shared by all. Lord, hear and have mercy. We pray for all people that your gifts of love and peace may grow in the hearts and minds of all people. Lord, hear and have mercy. We pray for the world, for all its cares and needs, for the leaders of the nations that peace may be with all people.
Lord, hear and have mercy. We pray for the sick, the needy, the lonely, the hurt and the frightened and those who live without hope. Lord, hear and have mercy. Bless the places where we work, the School, colleges and universities, all places where people gather, that they may be safe and secure Lord, hear and have mercy.
Lord, be with us to strengthen our faith and lead us forward day by day. Amen
Blessings,
