Saturday Prayers: January 6th – 7th 2018
The Epiphany of the Lord – Saturday, January 6th
We have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him. Matthew 2.2
Eternal God, who by a star led wise men to the worship of your Son; Guide by your light the nations of the earth, that the whole world may know your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever. Amen.
All poor folk and humble, all lame folk who stumble, come haste ye, and be not afraid; for Jesus, our treasure, whose love passes measure, in lowly poor manger was laid. The wise men who found him laid rich gifts around him, the oxen they gave him their hay; and Jesus in beauty accepted their duty: contented in manger he lay. Then haste we to show him the praises we owe him; our service he ne’er can despise, whose love still is able to show us the stable where softly in manger he lies. (Kathrine E Roberts)
The Baptism of the Lord: Sunday, January 7th 2018 Eternal Father, who at the baptism of Jesus revealed him to be your Son, anointing him with the Holy Spirit, keep your children, born of water and the Spirit faithful to their calling; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
I was made a Christian when my name was given, One of God’s dear children and an heir of heaven. In the name of Christian I will glory now, Evermore remember my baptismal vow.
By the birth in time of the timeless Son of God, hear us, O Lord and grant us your peace. By the manifestation of the King of Glory to the shepherds and magi, hear us, O Lord and grant us your peace. By the baptism of the Son of God in the river Jordan, hear us, O Lord and grant us your peace. Grant that the kingdoms of this world may become the kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; hear us, O Lord and grant us your peace. Amen.
God of all ages, lead us forward in this New Year with all the hope, joy and love that your grace bestows. Be our companion as we take up the cross to follow Christ and assist us in being His faithful disciples throughout this this year and always. In the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
Lord, bless to us this New Year and graciously abide with us all the days of our life. Amen.
Blessings,
