Saturday Prayers: July 21st – 22nd, 2018

 In Prayers

Ninth Sunday After Pentecost

My sheep hear my voice, says the Lord; I know them and they follow me. John 10. 27

Almighty God, your Son has opened for us a new and living way into your presence. Give us pure hearts and constant wills to worship you in Spirit and in truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Thou art the way, the truth, the life; Grant us that way to know, that truth to keep, that life to win; for they who would the Father seek, must seek Him, Lord, by thee. (George Washington Doane)

Monday, July 23rd St. Mary Magdalene

If any serve me, the Father will honour them John 12.26

Almighty God whose Son restored Mary Magdalene to health of mind and body, and called her to witness to the resurrection, forgive us and heal us by your grace, that we may serve you in the power of his risen life; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

God of life and health, in your Son Jesus Christ may we find forgiveness of all that is past and share your life giving, healing, forgiving Spirit, in this broken world. Amen

Wednesday, July 25th – St. James the Apostle

I chose you and appointed you, says the lord; that you should go and bear fruit that will last. John 15. 16.

Lord God, today we honour your servant James, the first apostle to give his life for faith in Jesus Christ. Pour out on all you people that spirit of self-denying service which is the mark of true leadership. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Lord Jesus, lead us forward day by day on your pilgrimage of love and peace. As we encounter the wars, evil and denials of the world, may we share with all your creation the beauty of your peace, love, truth and forgiveness, and together worship you with joy and gladness – Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessings,
