Saturday Prayers: July 22nd – 23rd 2017

 In Prayers

Saturday July 22nd. St. Mary Magdalene

If any serve me, the Father will honour them. John 12.26

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ, restored Mary Magdalene to health of mind and body, and called her to be a witness of his resurrection, forgive us and heal us by your grace, that we may serve you in the power of his risen life; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

All praise for Mary Magdalene whose wholeness was restored by you, her faithful master, her Saviour and her Lord. On Easter morning early, a word from you sufficed; her faith was first to see you, her Lord, the risen Christ.

Sunday, July 23rd. Seventh Sunday of Pentecost

My word shall accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55.11

Almighty God, your Son has opened for us a new and living way into your presence. Give us pure hearts and constant wills to worship you in spirit and in truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Thou art the way, the truth, the life: grant us that way to know, that truth to keep, that life to win, whose joys eternal flow. (George Washington Doane)

Heavenly Father we thank you for the good land which you have given us to live in, and for all who cultivate the land and harvest the good things that grow to nourish our bodies; may we always be mindful of those who are in need. We pray also for those who serve to protect and defend us, Lord keep them safe. And we pray for all who share with us in the world you have created, Lord, may we live together in peace and to the Glory of your Name.

Your disciples Peter, James and John said “Lord, it is good for us to be here” and we daily repeat that great thanksgiving “Lord, it is good for us to be here”. Amen.

Lord we pray for those whose lives are disrupted by disasters of fire, flood, and war; those who have to evacuate their homes, and all whose lives are affected: We pray for the military, fire fighters, medical teams, first responders and all who minister to them and provide for them. Lord give them strength and courage to live and serve in difficult situations, and make us all aware of your abiding presence with us in our daily living Amen.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
