 In Prayers

5th Sunday after Pentecost

Blessed is our Father, Lord of heaven and earth, who has revealed these things to us.

Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ has taught us that what we do to the least of your children we do also for him. Give us the will to serve others as he was the servant of all, who gave up his life and died for us, but lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

To God be the glory, who great things he has done! God so loved the world, freely giving his Son, who yielded his life an atonement for sin, and opened the life gate that all may come in. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the earth hear God’s voice. Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice! O come to the Father though Jesus the Son, and give God the Glory, who great things has done. (Fanny Crosby)

O Lord my God, I bring to you ’to-day’, with all its problems and needs, the duties and commitments already before me, the emergencies and unexpected calls upon me. Lord, give me strength and courage sufficient for the task.
Lord, there will be many people, of all races, colour and countries, who will cross my path, and share in the life you have given me. Lord, give me grace to receive them in love and service.

Lord, when this day is ended, let me rejoice and rest knowing I have done your will and fulfilled your mission, to the Glory of your Name. Amen.

With all our heart, mind and soul, we pray to you Lord God of our fathers, God of grace, be with us. In these days of confusion, turbulence and uncertainty we give thanks for the faith that supports us, for your love which protects us and for the guidance you give us day by day. We pray for all people in the world you have created for us to live in; may we live together in peace, sharing the good things you have provided, loving each other to the Glory of your name. We pray for The United Nations; for the leaders of the Nations as they meet in the Hamburg Summit ; guide and direct them in truth, respecting each other, and guarding the traditions, hopes and lives of the people they serve with dignity, and courage. God of grace, be with them.

God, whose vision spans all the ages, help us to see beyond this moment and embrace the wider perspective of your whole creation and build the Kingdom Jesus came to proclaim. God grace be with us.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
