Saturday Prayers: June 22nd – 23rd, 2019
2nd Sunday of Pentecost
A great prophet has risen among us! God has visited his people. Luke 7. 16
O God our defender storms rage about us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair, deliver your sons and daughters from fear, and preserve us all from unbelief, Through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; naught be all else to me, save that thou art – thou my best thought, by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my vision thou ruler of all (From an 8th Century Irish Hymn)
Eternal God, you have made our Saviour Jesus Christ, the head of all creation. Renew in us His risen life. Amen.
June 24th 2019 – The Birth of St. John the Baptist
You,my child, shall be called the prophet of the most high, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way. Luke 1.76
Almighty God you called John the Baptist to give witness to the coming of your Son and to prepare his way. Give us the wisdom to see your purpose, open our hearts to hear your will, and to witness to your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns within us. Now and for ever. Amen.
God of peace, forgive us for all the hurt and sadness in the world of to-day. Let you healing, renewing love, rest upon us, and upon all of creation. Create in us a new understanding and acceptance of each other, a new realization of what life is all about, let us live to the Glory of your Name. Amen.
Peace, perfect peace, in this dark world of sin ? The Blood of Jesus whispers peace within.
Blessings,
nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
