 In Prayers

Saturday June 24th: Birth of St. John the Baptist

You my child shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way. Luke 1.76

Almighty God, you called John the Baptist, to give witness to the coming of your Son and to prepare his way. Give your people the wisdom to see your purpose, and the openness to hear your will, that we too may witness to Christ’s coming and so prepare the way; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Sunday, June 25th: Third Sunday after Pentecost

The Spirit of truth will bear witness to me, say’s the Lord; and you also are witnesses John 15. 26

O God our defender, storms rage about us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair deliver your sons and daughters from fear, and preserve us all from danger and unbelief; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Lead us heavenly Father, lead us o’er the world’s tempestuous sea; Guard us, guide us, keep us feed us, for we have no help but thee; yet possessing every blessing, if our God our Father be. (James Edmeston)

The Prayer and Hymn for this day rightly expresses the dangers and fears of the days in which we live – Pray

Lord we pray for all who are innocently caught up in the storms of life, the dangers of the world, the fires of nature, and the tyranny of those who know not the love of God.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”
Lord Jesus, heal the injured, comfort those who mourn, sustain the survivors; guide and protect those who serve to defend us a keep us safe. Lord, be our strength and their defence.

Lord Jesus, in all the troubles and dangers of this life guide and protect us in our daily living and lead us forward day by day to live to the Glory of your Name; Walk with us Lord, for the journey is great, we need your strength to be with us.

Through all the changing scenes of life, in trouble and in joy, the praises of my God shall still my heart and tongue employ. (Tate and Brady)

Thursday, June 29th: St. Peter and St. Paul

Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you. John 21. 17

Almighty God, your blessed apostles Peter and Paul glorified you in their death as in their life. Grant that we inspired by their teaching and example, and made one by your Spirit, may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, Jesus Christ our lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.

Blessings,
