Saturday Prayers: June 24th – 25th, 2018
5th Sunday After Pentecost
A great prophet has arisen among us! God has visited his people. Luke 7. 16
O God our defender, storms rage about us and cause us to be afraid. Rescue your people from despair, deliver you sons and daughters from fear, and preserve us all from unbelief; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Lead us, Heavenly, Father lead us o’er the world’s tempestuous sea; guide us guard us, keep us, feed us, for we have no help but thee; THUS POSSESSING EVERY BLESSING If OUR GOD OUR FATHER BE. (James Edmeston)
On Sunday We Celebrate: The Birth of St. John the Baptist
You my child shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way. Luke 1. 76
Almighty God, you called John the Baptist to give witness to the coming of your Son and to prepare his way. Give your people the wisdom to see your purpose, and openness to hear your will, that we too may witness to Christ’s coming and so prepare his way; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Then cleansed be every breast from sin; make straight the way for God within. Prepare we in our hearts a home, where such a mighty God may come. (Charles Coffin)
Friday, June 29th St. Peter and St. Paul
Lord, you know everything, you know that I love you. John 21. 17
Almighty God you blessed Apostles Peter and Paul who glorified you in their death as in their life. Grant to us inspired by their teaching and example, and made one by your Spirit, that we may ever stand firm upon the one foundation, Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,now and forever. Amen.
Praying for the Saints – may we follow their good example and serve The Lord in our daily living.
In peace we pray to you Lord God for all people in their daily life and work; for our families, friends, and neighbours, for those who are isolated and alone. For our community, our country, and the world. For all who work for justice, freedom and peace. For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice and oppression. For those separated from love ones. For all who are in danger, sorrow, or in any kind of trouble. For those who minister to the sick, the friendless and the needy. We pray for the peace of the world and the unity of nations. And we pray for our own needs and the needs of others. Hear us Lord for your mercy is great, and we praise your holy Name for ever and ever. Amen.
Blessings,
