Saturday Prayers: June 9th – 10th, 2018

 In Prayers

Third Sunday after Pentecost

A great prophet has risen up among us! God has visited his people! Luke 7. 16

O God, you have assured the human family of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Deliver us from the death of sin and raise us to new life in him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Glory to God who does wondrous things; let all the people God’s praises now sing; all of creation in splendour shall ring; fill us with joy and cast out all our fear. Alleluia. Amen. (Mary Haugen)

Monday, June 11th – St. Barnabas

This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Acts 2. 32

Merciful God, help us to follow the example of your faithful servant Barnabas, who, seeking not his own renown but the wellbeing of your Church, gave generously of his life and substance for the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Loving God, we thank you for the opportunity Saturday Prayers gives for us reach out to each other and bring friends around the world together to pray in devotion to you, for the concerns and needs of all people in their daily life and work; for those who live in isolated and dangerous places; for those in our Sacred Order of The Knights and Dames of Jerusalem: We pray for our newly elected Officers and all who serve in the Grand Priories and Priories around the world. Renew us with strength to carry out our various tasks and commitments, and to live the noble life to which you have called us, always remembering our sacred motto “Not unto us O Lord, not unto us, but to thy name be the praise”.

And now unto God who created us and filled us with His Being – be all glory and honour now and for ever. Amen.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
