Saturday Prayers: May 11th – 12th, 2019

 In Prayers

Fourth Sunday of Easter

I am the Good Shepherd, I know my own and my own know me. John 10.14

O God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant , make us perfect in every good work to do your will, and work in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In our Canadian Calendar the second Sunday in May is also Mother’s Day

Give thanks for your Mother, in heaven or on earth, she brought you into the world and led you forth day by day, caring for you, probably more than you cared for yourself. Giving leadership in the home, the community, the nation, and the world.

God Bless the mothers of the world.

Say your own Blessing of Love and thanksgiving for your mother on this special day. Amen.

When mothers of Salem their children brought to Jesus,
The stern disciples drove the back, and bade the depart .
But Jesus saw them and sweetly said,
Let the little children come unto me.

Tuesday, May 14th – St. Matthias – one of the Twelve Apostles

I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. John 15.16.
Almighty God, who in the place of Judas chose Matthias to be one of the twelve, preserve the Church from false apostles, and by the ministry of faithful pastors and teachers keep us steadfast in your truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord, you have searched me out, you know me better than I know myself; You know my sitting down and my rising up; you discern my thoughts from afar. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. It is so high that I cannot attain to it. Search me out, O God, and know my heart. Lead me in the way of everlasting peace and life eternal. Selected verses from Psalm 139

We give thanks in prayer for the life and witness of a great Christian gentleman.

Jean Vanier, CC GOQ was a Canadian Catholic philosopher, theologian, and humanitarian. In 1964 he founded L’Arche, an international federation of communities spread over 37 countries, for people with developmental disabilities and those who assist them.

He died in Paris, France, May 7, 2019. May he rest in peace.

Rest eternal grant unto him, and may Light perpetual shine upon him.
