Saturday Prayers: May 5th – 6th, 2018

 In Prayers

Sixth Sunday of Easter

If you love me, you will keep my word, and my Father will love you, and we will come to you. John 14.23

Merciful God, you have prepared for those who love you riches beyond imagination. Pour into our hearts such love toward you, that we, loving you above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit , one God, now and forever. Amen.

And now, O Father, mindful of the love that bought us once for all on Calvary’s Tree, and having with us him that pleads above, we here present, we here spread for to thee that only offering perfect in thine eyes, the one true pure immortal sacrifice. And then for those, our dearest and our best, by thy prevailing presence we appeal: O fold them closer to thy mercy’s breast, O do thine utmost for their soul’s true weal; from tainting mischief keep them pure and clean, and crown thy gifts with strength to persevere. In thine own service make us glad and free, and grant us never more to part with thee. – William Bright

Monday, May 7th St. John the Evangelist

Shed upon your people, O Lord, the brightness of your light, that we being illumined by the teaching of your apostle and evangelist John may walk in the light of your truth, and come at last to the fullness of eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thursday, May 10th – The Ascension of the Lord

Go and make disciples of all nations, says the Lord; I am with you always, to the close of the age. Matthew 28. 19 – 20

Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ ascended to the throne of heaven that he might rule over all things as Lord. Keep us in the unity of the Spirit and in the bond of peace and bring the whole of creation to worship at his feet, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Alleluia, Amen.

O Risen Christ, ascended Lord, all praise to thee let earth accord, who art, while endless ages run, with Father and the Spirit one. Alleluia. (From the 10th Cent. Latin Text – “Aeterne Rex altissime” )

As the Easter Season comes to an end we pray for The Holy City of Jerusalem . “may peace be within thy walls” . And may The God of Peace be with us all.
Alleluia.

Blessings,
