Saturday Prayers: New Year’s Eve Weekend, 2018
The First Sunday After Christmas – The Last Day of 2017
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts; let the word of Christ dwell in you richly. Colossians 3. 15 – 16.
Almighty God, you have shed upon us the new light of your incarnate Word. May this light, enkindled in our hearts, shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Source of truth and joy, may we who have received the gift of divine life always follow the way of your Son. This we ask in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The year is gone beyond recall, with all its hopes and fears, with all its bright and gladdening smiles with all its mourners tears. Thy thankful people praise thee, Lord, for countless blessings received; and pray for grace to keep the faith which saints of old believed. (Translated from the Latin Le Mans Breviary 1748)
New Year’s Day: January 1st, 2018
God spoke of old by the prophets; but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son. Hebrews 1. 1-2
Eternal Father, we give thanks for your incarnate Son, Jesus, whose name is our salvation. Plant in every heart we pray, the love of him who is the Saviour of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
Father let me dedicate this new born year to Thee, In whatever worldly state Thou would have me be: Not from sorrow, pain or care, freedom dare I claim; let this alone be my prayer, to Glorify your Name. Amen.
Pray for the peace of the world; for The United Nations; for the leaders of the Nations. Pray for all people. And pray that you may live as the person God created you to be.
Almighty God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed, kindle we pray in the hearts of all people, the true love of your peace. Guide with your pure and peaceable wisdom those who lead the nations of the world; that all people may live in peace, and express your love in their lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the Prince of Peace and the Author of our salvation. Amen.
Happy New Year to all.
Blessings,
