Saturday Prayers: November 11th – 12th, 2018
Sunday, November 11th – Remembrance Day
We remember the Fallen of every Country in the wars of the world, with a special Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the end of World 1.
“They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Age shall on weary them nor the years condemn, AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM” – Laurence Binyon
Lord, we remember before you all who have died in the wars of the world, giving their lives in the cause of freedom and peace. May we in memory of them, maintain the peace they gained for us and when our lives are ended be reunited with them in Your Glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
0 God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home. Be thou our guard while troubles last, and our eternal home. (Isaac Watts)
Sunday, November 11th 2018. 25th Sunday after Pentecost
Watch and be ready, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. Matthew 24. 42
Eternal God, who caused all holy scriptures to be written for our learning, grant us to hear them, read, mark, learn and inwardly digest them, that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Lord your word shall guide us and with truth provide us, teach us to receive it and with joy believe it. Word of mercy giving courage to the living; word of life supplying comfort to the dying.
We pray for those who have died, in recent conflicts in the cause of justice and peace, Lord draw them to yourself, grant them your peace. We pray for those who have lost loved ones, Lord comfort them: Lord, grant them your courage. Lord lay your Holy Healing Hands of Peace upon the world. Lord, grant us your healing grace, give us strength and courage to move forward day by day in your Name, loving one another, and sharing your peace.
Peace perfect peace, in this dark world of sin. The Blood of Jesus whispers peace within.
Blessings,
nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
