Saturday Prayers: October 14th – 15th 2017
Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost
May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten our hearts, that we may know the hope to which he has called us. Ephesians 1.17
This week’s Prayers come to you from Sweden where the Grand Priors and Leaders of our Order are gathering in Retreat and for the Fall Meetings of OSMTH. Lord Jesus we pray your Blessing upon us. Amen.
Almighty God, in our baptism you adopted us for your own. Quicken, we pray, your Spirit within us, that we, being renewed both in body and mind, may worship you in sincerity and truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
God, my hope on you is founded; you my faith and trust renew: through all change and chance you guide me, only good and only true. God unknown, you alone, call my heart to be your own. God’s great goodness lasts forever, deepest wisdom, passing thought: splendour, light, and life attending, beauty springing out of naught. Evermore from God’s store newborn worlds rise and adore. ( from 17th century Hymn by Joachim Neander )
St. Luke the Evangelist – Wednesday, October 18th
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring good tidings, who publish salvation. Isaiah 52.7
Almighty God who inspired Luke the physician to proclaim the love and healing power of your Son, give us , by the grace of the Holy Spirit and the medicine of the gospel, the same love and power to heal; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Holy Jesus, in celebrating the healing grace given to St. Luke, we bring before you the weak, the sick, the injured and the dying. Lay your Holy Healing Hands upon them and fill them with your strength and healing grace. We pray for all who work in the Ministry of Healing , for those in hospital, Nursing Homes, and those who are sick within their own homes; give them courage and strength, and to those who care for them give wisdom, skill, sympathy and understanding. Lord Jesus lay your holy healing hands upon them to give courage, strength and peace. Amen.
And we pray for those living in the areas of dangerous winds, storms, fire and flood. Protect them in all danger; give courage and strength to the first responders, and all who work to keep us safe in times of stress and danger. Lord of Hosts, be with us all. Amen
Blessings,
