Saturday Prayers: October 28th – 29th 2017

 In Prayers

Saturday, October 28th Apostles St. Simon and St. Jude

You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and to the end of the earth Acts. 1-8

Almighty God, we thank you for the glorious company of the Apostles, and especially on this day for Simon and Jude. As they were faithful and zealous in their mission, so may we with ardent devotion make known the love and mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Sunday, October 29th. Twenty first Sunday after Pentecost

If you love me you will keep my word, and my Father will love you, and we will come to you. John 14. 23

Lord God our redeemer, who in ancient times heard the cry of your people and sent your servant Moses to lead them out of slavery, free us from tyranny of sin and death, and by the leading of your Spirit bring us to our promised land; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but thou art mighty, hold me with thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more, feed me till I want no more. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside; death of death and hell’s destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side: songs of praises, songs of praises, I will ever give to thee. I will ever give to thee. (William Williams)

October 31st – Reformation Day Commemorating the 500th year of the Beginning of the Reformation.

Draw your Church together O Lord, into one great family of disciples, worshipping you in spirit and in truth, living in peace with one another, recognizing you as the source of our being, caring for your creation, and serving you without fear. Heavenly Father, Saviour Jesus Christ, Guiding Holy Spirit; live in us, so that we may live with Thee. Amen.

May God, who is the fullness of peace, be our peace, in these troubled times. Help us to love one another as you love us; Guide us daily so that we may make thy Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. May the love of the cross, the power of the Resurrection, and the presence of the Living Lord, be with us always . Amen.

Wednesday, November 1st – All Saint’s Day

Almighty God, whose people are knit together in one holy church, the mystical Body of your Son, grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in life of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Let saints on earth in concert sing with those whose work is done; for all the servants of the Lord in earth and heaven are one.

Blessings,

nnDnn Archdeacon Ron Matthewman, Vicar General Emeritus
