Saturday Prayers: September 23rd – 24th 2017
16th Sunday after Pentecost
Open our hearts, O Lord, to give heed to what is said by your Son. Almighty God you have created the heavens and the earth, and ourselves in your image. Teach us to discern your hand in all your works and to serve you with reverence and thanksgiving; through Jesus Christ our lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God, now and forever. Amen.
Lord your word shall guide us and your truth provide us; teach us to receive it and with joy believe it. When our foes are near us, then your word shall cheer us, words of consolation, message of salvation. Words of mercy giving, courage to the living, words of life, supplying comfort to the dying. (Henry Williams Baker)
Friday, September 29th – St. Michael and All Angels
Bless the Lord, all you his hosts, you ministers of his who do his will. Psalm 103.21
Eternal God, you have ordained and constituted in a wonderful order the ministries of angels and mortals. Grant that as your holy angels stand before you in heaven, so at your command they may help and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Glory to God in the highest, and peace to his people on earth:
Lord Jesus, through all the changing scenes of life, walk with us; in troublesome times of danger and distress, guard and protect us. Comfort the sorrowful, help us to provide for those in need. Give strength and courage to those who serve to protect us and keep us safe. Give wisdom, and ability to those who govern. Help us all to live in peace and to the Glory of your Name. Amen.
Blessed are you gracious God, for you have called us to live together in peace and call upon your name. And now we give thanks for your great salvation, shown to us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
