Saturday Prayers: September 29th – 30th, 2018
Saturday September 29th St. Michael and All Angels
Bless the Lord, all you his hosts, you ministers of his who do his will Psalm 103.21
Eternal God, you have ordained and constituted in a wonderful order the ministries of angels and mortals. Grant that as your holy angels stand before you in heaven, so at your command they may help, and defend us here on earth; through Jesus Christ our lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Angel Voices, ever singing, round the throne of light, angel harps, for ever ringing, rest not day nor night; thousands only live to bless thee, and confess thee, Lord of might. (Francis Pott)
Sunday, September 30th 19th Sunday after Pentecost
Your word, O Lord, is truth; sanctify us in the truth. John 17.17
Grant, O merciful God, that we being gathered by your Holy Spirit into one body in Christ Jesus, may show forth your power among all peoples, to the glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever Amen.
Eternal Ruler of the ceaseless round of circling planets singing on their way, Guide of the nations from the night profound into the glory of the perfect day: rule in our hearts, that we may ever be guided, strengthened and up held by thee. (John White Chadwick)
We pray for all people in their daily life and work; for a blessing on our family life together; for our communities, for our countries, nations, and the world; For all who are called upon to give leadership, that what they do and say may be of benefit to all of humanity; and be to The Glory of God. At this time of Harvest as the fruits of the fields are gathered in we give thanks to God for the food provided to nourish our bodies, knowledge to nourish our minds, and love to nourish our relationships. We pray for all whose lives have been disturbed by storms, whose properties have been damaged or destroyed; we pray for the rescue workers and all who work for the care, protection, and well-being of others. Into your hands O Lord, we commend those in need of care and protection; the sick, the weak, the injured, the hungry the neglected, and those drawing close to the end of their days. Bless those who have lost loved ones; Lord, you know our needs before we ask and our ignorance in asking; gather us all into one great family, sharing, loving, and living in peace to the Glory of your Name Amen.
Thursday, October 4th – St. Francis of Assisi
O Lord, our Christ, may we have thy mind and thy spirit; make us instruments of thy peace; where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
Blessings,
