Saturday Prayers: September 8th – 9th, 2018
8th of September – Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. Luke 11. 28
Almighty God, who choose the Blessed Virgin Mary to be the mother of your Son grant that we who are redeemed by his blood may share with her the Glory of your eternal kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
September 9th, the 16th Sunday After Pentecost
Jesus preached the Gospel of the kingdom. Matthew 4. 23.
Stir up O Lord, the wills of your faithful people, that richly bearing the fruit of good works, we may by you be richly rewarded; though Jesus Christ our Lord who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
O word of God Incarnate, O wisdom from on high, O Truth unchanged, unchanging, O Light of our dark sky; We praise thee for the radiance that from the hallowed page, a lantern to our footsteps, shining from age to age. And still that light o’er all the earth doth shine it is the golden compass the guides us Lord to thee.
Friday, September 14th – Holy Cross Day
Far be it for me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ Galatians 6.14
Almighty God, whose Son our Saviour Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world to himself, may we who rejoice in the mystery of our redemption, have grace to take up our cross and follow him, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Come Christian people, sing, your praises shout! If we are silent, even stones cry out’. Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. (George William Kitchen – Shirley E Murray)
Lord Jesus, grant that everyone who calls themselves Christian may humbly serve and follow you. That your name may be glorified in all the world.
We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world, that in sincerity and in truth they may govern righteously, with wisdom, and so honour your holy name.
We pray for the peace of the world and for all of those whose lives are disturbed by violence and fear.
We pray for all of those whose lives are disturbed by forest fires, flooded rivers and oceans, the storms of nature, and by the violence of people.
We pray for the First Responders and those who work to free people in difficult situations.
And Lord, we pray for ourselves that we may fulfill our Christian calling.
Lord, hear our prayer and let our cry come unto thee. Amen
Blessings,
