Saturday Prayers: St. Patrick’s Day, 2019

 In Prayers

Second Sunday in Lent

I do not glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6.14

Almighty God, whose Son was revealed in majesty before he suffered death upon the cross, give us faith to perceive his glory, that being strengthened by his grace we may be changed into his likeness, from glory to glory; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

In the cross of Christ I glory, towering o’er the wrecks of time; all the light of sacred story gathers round its head sublime When the woes of life or take us, hopes deceive, and fears annoy, never shall the cross forsake us, lo, it glows with peace and joy. (John Browing)

Also on Sunday March 17th – St. Patrick’s Day O God, who didst send forth Blessed Patrick to preach to the Gentiles the Glory of thy Name: grant that by his merits and intercession, we may by thy mercy be enabled to fulfill all such things as thou commandest. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I bind unto myself to-day the strong name of the Trinity, by invocation of the same, the Three –in- One, and One- in- three. (From St. Patricks Breastplate)

Wednesday March 19th – St. Joseph of Nazareth

Happy are they who dwell in your house! They will be always praising thee. Psalm 84.3

O God, from the family of your servant David you raised up Joseph to be the guardian of your incarnate Son. Give us grace to follow him in faithful obedience  to your commands; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Pray for peace in the world and for good will amongst all nations; Pray that a spirit of respect and reconciliation may grow amongst all people; Pray for all who suffer persecution, for refugees, prisoners and all who are in danger, for the sick the weak, the dying and those who are bereaved, that God may comfort and restore them. And pray that we may have the courage and strength to live in accordance with God’s will: Lord hear our prayer and let our cry come unto thee. Amen.

Eternal Lord of love, behold your people walking in the pilgrim way of Lent, far of, yet near, in your presence keep us safe. Amen.

Blessings,
