Saturday Prayers: Thanksgiving Weekend, 2018

 In Prayers

20th Sunday After Pentecost

If we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4. 12

Almighty God you have built our faith on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Join us together in unity of spirit and in the Bond of Peace, that we may become a holy temple, acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, chosen of the Lord and precious, binding all the church in one, holy Zion’s help for ever, and his confidence alone. To this temple, where we call thee, come, O Lord of hosts, to-day; with thy wonted loving kindness, hear thy servants as thy pray; and thy fullest benediction shed within our walls to-day. (From the 7th Century Latin, Angularis Fundamentum )

And we invite you all to share with us in our Canadian week-end of Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Day Monday, October 8th

Accept, O Lord, our thanks and praise for all you have done for us. We thank you for the splendour of the whole creation, for the beauty of the world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. We thank you for the blessings of our Country, family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us on every side. We thank you for your peace, love and creative Spirit in our development. We pray for our leaders, teachers, and all who share in our wellbeing. Guide us day by day be your loving Heavenly Spirit and keep us all forever in your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Now thank we all our God, with heart and hands and voices, who wondrous things hath done in whom this world rejoices; who from our mother’s arms hath blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love, and still is ours to-day. AMEN

Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day. Preserve us with your mighty power, that in all things we may not fail you, but fulfill your creative, loving purpose, to the Glory of your name; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

In this and every day, GO IN PEACE TO LOVE AND SERVE THE LORD. AMEN

Blessings,
